K-Pop Artist Spotlight: VIXX

Welcome to the first K-pop Artist Spotlight!

The K-pop Artist that I will be spotlighting on will be VIXX!

VIXX is a 6 member boy band from Jellyfish Entertainment and CJ E&M Music and Live, consisting of N, Leo, Ken, Ravi, Hong Bin, Hyuk. They are one of my favourite Korean boy bands because of their unique songs. Sometimes their songs can be really dark and powerful like in Voodoo Doll and Hyde, and in other times, their songs can be fun and cheerful like in Rock Ur Body and G.R.8.U. VIXX is one of the few K-pop artists that do dark songs so personally its one of the reasons why I like them.

I will be recommending 3 of their songs: On and On, G.R.8.U, and Voodoo doll.

Firstly, On and On comes from their 3rd single album 'On and On' which was published on Apr 28, 2013. This song shows off their tough and charismatic side and is personally one of my favourite songs from VIXX.

Secondly, G.R.8.U comes from their album 'Jekyll (repackaged)' which was published on July 30, 2013.
This song basically talks about a guy in love and shows the cheerful and soft side of VIXX. The song is upbeat and makes you want to sing along and that is why I enjoy listening to it.

Last but not least, Voodoo Doll comes from their 1st regular album 'VOODOO' which was published on Nov 19, 2013. This song describes what a guy would sacrifice for the woman he loves and is one of the dark and powerful songs from VIXX. Their unique lyrics and awesome dance moves makes this song really enjoyable. The original music video is really scary due to all the visual effects so I just share the dance version with subtitles.

        After their success on their fastest selling debut album in the British history Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, Arctic Monkeys broke into the music scene once again with their single Teddy Picker. The song entered the UK Singles Chart at number 20. Arctic Monkeys consist of front men Alex Turner (Singer and Guitarist) Jamie Cook (Guitarist) Nick 'O' Malley (bassist) and Matt Helders (Drummer).

Still Into You by Paramore

Paramore is an American alternative rock band which releases their music through a record label, Fueled By Ramen. The band was officially formed by Josh Farro (lead guitarist and backup vocalist), Zac Farro (drummer), Jeremy Davis (bass guitarist) and Hayley Williams (lead vocals) in 2004, with the later addition of Williams' neighbor, Jason Bynum (rhythm guitarist). Paramore then goes through a drastic change in music after their break up, leaving Hayley Williams, Jeremy Davis and Taylor York (guitarist), who came in along the way which still surprises their fans with their upbeat songs. "Still Into You" is a departure from their latest album (March 14, 2013), "Now", which incorporates a lighter pop rock sound. It is also one of their most commercially successful singles in the United States.

BEAST is a 6 member boy band from Cube Entertainment. Good Luck is the sixth mini album and was released on June 16, 2014.The members are Yoon Doo Joon, Jang Hyun Seung, Yong Jun Hyung, Yang Yo Seob, Lee Gi Kwang, Son Dong Woon. I really like the catchy tune, awesome vocals, and cool dance moves in this song! BEAST jjang!!

Fantastic by Henry (Super Junior M)

Henry is a member of Super Junior M, a Mandopop subgroup of Super Junior. This is his 2^nd solo mini album call “Fantastic”. Henry is really talented, he is able to speak in 8 different languages (English, Mandarin, Korean, Cantonese, Taiwanese Hokkien, Japanese, Thai and French), play 5 different instruments and sings really well! (WOW)

I really enjoy both songs as they are very enjoyable and also showcases his multiple talents.

Maeda Atsuko was a member from AKB48, her voice and the melody of this song will always calm my mind and keep me in peace. I will rate this song 7 out of 10.  This song is a cover which original singer were AKB48 and this is her solo version, which is quite different and better than the original.

Electro Recommendations Of The Week: [House] Soldier by Nitro Fun

Gustavo Rangel's interest in electronic in music started when he was 14 years old and at the young age of 15, he won a release competition on Monstercat with his own solo release soon after, becoming the youngest artist signed to the label.

We recommend this song because it provides the most smoothing and melodic tune to the audience. Also it is unique because of the chip-tune element that Gustavo Rangel has added to it. Overall this is one of the few outstanding piece of music and could his best piece yet. Be sure to look out for him as he is taking the stage!

f(x) is a five member multinational girl group formed by the mega entertainment company, SM Entertainment, in 2009. The members are Victoria (Leader), Amber, Krystal, Luna and Sulli. This is their 3rd album called "Red Light" and this song was published on 2 July 2014.
