Arctic Monkeys was formed in Sheffield in 2002 by front man Alex Turner (vocalist/guitar) Jamie Cook (Guitar) Nick O Malley (Bass) and Matthew Helders (drums). Arctic Monkeys were an example of many rock bands to have gained their fan base through the internet. Their first album Whatever People Say I am Thats What Im Not break the records for the best selling debut album in the history of British rock music.

Can't Stand Me Now

As promised, this is the second post for Indie/Psychedelic spotlight of the week. This post will be covering on the controversial Indie rock band from United Kingdom The Libertines. Founded in 1997 by frontmen Carl Barat (vocalist/guitar) and Pete Dorhety (vocalist/guitar). The band centered on the songwriting partnership of Carl and Pete along with bassist John Hassall and Gary Powell (drums). They gained some notoriety in early 2000s with releasing their self-titled album was voted second best album of the year 2004 by NME magazine. Despite their critical success, the bands music was often eclipsed by Pete's addiction of cocaine which led to the breakup of the band in 2005. Pete has since stated that the breakup of the band was due to relationship difficulties between Carl and himself that were not related to his drug addictions. However, the four members made a reunion comeback in 2010 Reading music festivals. They recently has done a sold-out concert at British Summertime Hyde Park last month and they are planing to release a third studio album in 2015.

The Strokes
Formed in New York City in 1998, The Strokes consist of front man Julian Casablancas, guitarist Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr, bassist Nikolai Fraiture and drummer Fabrizio Morretti. The Strokes are one of the leading rock bands of 2000 gained critical acclaim with their debut album Is This It when NME named it best album of the decade. The members of The Strokes also involved in projects outside the band
creating their solo album. Julian Casablancas achieved popularity after his collaboration with Daft Punk for Instant Crush and F.T.Island for Boombox

Fire By Kasabian
Due to the inconsistency of the spotlight of the week for Indie/Alternative last week. We will be including two spotlights for this week. First up is an English indie rock band from Leicester Kasabian. The band consist of vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist and part vocalist Sergio Pizzorino, guitarist Christopher Karloff, bassist Chris Edwards and drummer Ian Matthews. Their hit single Fire, was chosen as a main song for the Barclay's Premier League and have made the headlines at the biggest musical festival stage Glastonbury in 2014. In 2010, they won a nomination being the best British group of the year. They are also well known for their electronic tunes which sync with the electric guitars and drum beats.
